TL:DR - Paper's authors Kerautret et al. did not disclose that they had a vested financial interest in the robotic massage machine; techniques used were prohibitive and inaccurate for measuring ROM, VAS and flexibility, and the robotic massage machine costs up to USD $310,000 per unit. Here in Assessment 2, I examine the validity of the claims of Robotic Massage vs. Manual Massage with the conclusion from Kerautret that “RM solutions thus represent an exciting tool to assist physical therapists” (p. 658) - which seems overly optimistic given the prohibitive costs, the failure to deliver on the flexibility hypothesis, and the undisclosed financial conflict of interest of the authors.
